What is this

Annabel: Another Chance is a top-down psychological horror puzzle game developed as a university project.Annabel: Another Chance is a top-down psychological horror puzzle game developed as a university project. The player controls Annabel, an elderly woman who dies alone and full of regret, only to wake up trapped in an illusion of her teenage years crafted by a demon feeding on her soul. What begins as a bright, hopeful second chance at life slowly unravels into something dark and oppressive as friends disappear and the world around her twists into something sinister. The game blends tile-based movement with logic puzzles, stealth mechanics, and a dynamic lighting system where darkness is both a threat and a tool. Enemies roam freely in the shadows but are bound by the player’s movement in lit areas, creating tense risk-reward decisions around every light switch. Developed in Unity 2D with a 32x32 pixel art style, the visual tone shifts deliberately from warm pastels to cold, grim greys as the story progresses — reinforcing the emotional arc of loss, regret, and eventual acceptance.

My Contributions

On this project I was responsible for all AI programming — both enemy pathfinding along pre-established routes and the chase logic for tracking the player. I also owned the technical implementation of the lighting system and the hiding mechanic, including the interactable boxes the player can use to take cover from enemies. Movement was a joint effort with Sebastián, who built the first version of the system and I later modified and refined the script to better fit the game’s needs. The interactable object system was shared work between me and Rafael — I implemented the light switches and pushable boxes, while he handled the keys. I also contributed heavily to the narrative side, helping guide the story and script throughout the project.
